SEG Solar First to Secure Special Economic Zone Certification in Indonesia
BATANG, Indonesia — SEG Solar (“SEG”), a leading U.S.-based PV module manufacturer, has become one of the first companies to be awarded NIPU (Nomor Induk Perusahaan Utama) under the Special Business License by the Batang Industrial Special Economic Zone Authority in Indonesia.
With this milestone, SEG is now eligible for a comprehensive package of fiscal incentives and investment benefits, including tax exemptions, customs facilitation, and favorable land-use policies. These advantages are expected to significantly accelerate the development of SEG’s industrial park in Indonesia and enhance its global competitiveness.
The Batang Industrial Special Economic Zone spans 4,300 hectares and is Indonesia’s largest economic zone. It is projected to attract up to Rp75.8 trillion (US$45.6 billion) in new investments over the next five years. The NIPU certification grants SEG streamlined administrative processes, preferential land access, and meaningful tax relief—key factors that will reduce operating costs, improve efficiency, and strengthen SEG’s market position in Indonesia and beyond.
“We are proud to be among the first companies to receive this important certification from the Batang Special Economic Zone,” said Jun Zhuge, CEO of PT SEG Solar. “This recognition reflects the progress we’ve made in Indonesia and provides a solid policy foundation for future expansion. With these incentives in place, we can further accelerate our global manufacturing strategy and better serve customers around the world.”
Strategically positioned within Batang Industrial Special Economic Zone, SEG’s industrial park is set to become a fully integrated, smart manufacturing hub. The company has already completed the first production line of Phase I, with the first solar cell successfully produced—an important step forward in advancing the project toward full-scale operations.
